Captivating dance action, breathtaking stage shows, explosive dancemoves and thrilling competitions – you will experience all that and much more when Matrei i.O. turns from 3rd to 5th of June in Europe's dance center. With the motto "DANCING WITH JOY IN MATREI" the dance eyes will once again be directed to Matrei. Fun, friendship and the joy of dancing are connected with exciting competitions for eventful and exciting dancing days!

The "ASDU European Championships" are the largest international dance tournament for Musical- and Showdance in Austria 2017. The tournament is not only focused on amateurs, but also on professional dancers, who are judged in two own rating classes.
More than 1,000 dancers from almost 50 clubs / schools and studios from more than 8 European countries will compete in individual disciplines and dance for the title of "European Champion".

The registration for the ASDU European Championships 2017 takes place directly via a registration portal of the A.S.D.U.international. For registration click on the prior link or go to the homepage of the A.S.D.U.international. The portal is activated for you since 20.11.2016.

After registration as a school with your dancers and performances the system calculates directly the correct age category for your performance.

There are three ways to qualify for the European Championships:

> qualify through the national tournament

> qualify through a close national tournament (eg. a Hungarian school in the Austrian national competiton)

> qualify through a pre-qualification directly before the European Championships

Classic/Ballet // Contemporary/Modern // Jazz & Lyrical Jazz Dance // Hip-Hop-Urban Dance Styles // BBoying/Breakdance // Acro Dance // Step/Tap-dance // Song & Dance // Musical // Production Number // Folklore/Character/Ethnic Dance // Open

Solo (1 dancer)
Pair, Trio (2-3 dancers)
Small Group (4-10 dancers)
Group (11 and more dancers)

Age classes:
A competition comprise 5 age categories, a mini-, a children-, two junior-, and a general class.
The age cut-off-date is the 1.1. of the current year. The average age of the dancers determines the age group (exception: Solo category).

  • Minis: 6 – 9 years old
  • Children: 9.1 – 12.5 years old
  • Junior I: 12.6 – 15.5 years old
  • Junior II: 15.6 – 19.5 years old
  • General category: 19.6 years and older

The timing begins with the apparent beginning of the dance and ends with the apparent end of the number. There is a time limit lenience of 5 seconds (Production Number: 15 sec.). If the dance number runs outside (over or under) the time limit and its lenience, there will be a reduction of 20 points.

  • Solo, Pair/Trio: 1:30 – 2:00 minutes
  • Small Groups, Groups: 2:00 – 3:00 minutes
  • Production Number: 3:00 – 4:30 minutes
  • Exception: Classical dance numbers – the music may be longer or shorter as per the original choreography.

Accommodation is an important factor to feel comfortable. A short and direct footway from your hotel to the event location makes life on-site much more easier.
